Privacy Policy

HomiDrive is a local-first private storage product. This policy explains what data we collect and how we handle it, across the HomiDrive apps (Windows and Android) and the homidrive.app website. It is written to be read, not to hide things.

The short version

• Your files stay on your own computer. We never receive, store, or have access to your files, their contents, names, or folder paths.
• We collect only what is needed to sign you in, link your devices, and — if you choose — provide Remote access and process its subscription.
• We do not sell your personal data or share it for advertising.

Data we collect

Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account's basic identity — your name, email address, and a Google account identifier — to create your account and link your devices.

Device information. For each device you link, we store a device name, platform, an app-generated device identifier, and an overlay node name, so we can show and manage your linked devices and route Remote connections.

Remote subscription and payments. If you subscribe to the optional Remote access feature, your payment is processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We store your subscription status and coarse relay-usage totals (how much data was carried, by connection type) — never the contents of what you transferred.

Website launch waitlist. If you joined the pre-launch waitlist, we stored the email address you submitted so we could notify you when HomiDrive launched. The website no longer accepts waitlist sign-ups.

Diagnostics. The apps keep coarse, on-device usage counters (for example, how much data went over a direct versus a relayed connection). These stay on your device and never include file names, paths, URLs, identifiers, or contents.

Data we do not collect

• Your files — contents, names, folders, or paths. HomiDrive stores your files only on your own computer. They move directly between your own devices over your local network, or, with Remote, through an encrypted owner-only overlay. The relay that carries Remote traffic forwards it encrypted and does not store it.
• We do not collect your contacts, location, browsing activity, or photos beyond the specific files you choose to transfer.

How we use your data

• Authenticate you and keep you signed in.
• Link and manage your devices.
• Provide, and — if you subscribe — bill, Remote access.
• Send the launch notice to people who joined the pre-launch waitlist.
• Keep the service secure and reliable (abuse prevention and diagnostics).

How your data is shared

We share personal data only with the providers needed to run the service:

• Google — to sign you in (OpenID Connect).
• Stripe — to process Remote subscription payments, if you subscribe.
• Our hosting — the account service runs on server infrastructure we operate.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.

Retention and your choices

• Remove a linked device at any time from the app — this deletes its overlay membership and revokes its access.
• Cancel Remote access at any time.
• Delete your account at any time from the app itself — Settings, then Account → Delete account. This removes your account record, every session, your paired devices, your subscription record and its usage totals, and your address on our waitlist, and cancels any Remote subscription. • Waitlist: reply to any email we send, or contact us, and we will remove your address.

Security

Connections use TLS/HTTPS, and local-network connections pin the server's certificate. Credentials and account sessions are stored only as hashes. Because your files never reach our servers, there is no copy of them for us to lose.

Children

HomiDrive is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the date above, and for material changes we will make a reasonable effort to notify you.
